A Sacred Heaven

The final day of my journey began with a walk through the serene Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden, a tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of Oahu. Imagine stepping into a divine heaven where serenity blooms in abundance. This reminded me of my daily hikes with some of my best friends back home in Kansas before we were old enough to drive. The air whispered an essence that felt like a peaceful refuge, and this garden was just that! Surrounded by a vast array of flora from every corner of the globe, I found myself immersed in an exquisite sanctuary, a sacred space that nurtured my mind and soul.

As I explored, my senses were treated to the pristine beauty of the Ko'olau Mountains, painting a breathtaking backdrop. The ancient Hawaiians believed these peaks to be a source of spiritual strength, and as I soaked in their presence, I felt this essence pierce my spirit.

Walking the sacred path along the east side of the Ko'olau Mountains, also known as "the stairway to heaven," I was reminded of Wao Akua, "the realm of the Gods." Every step felt like a prayer, a soulful dance between the earthly and the divine. It was a humbling experience, a reminder of the majesty of nature and our role as respectful stewards of these sacred spaces.

As I crossed the trails, I began to reflect on how this journey into nature mirrors my professional journey in the film industry. Like the diverse flora, my professional path has been colored by a myriad of experiences, each unique and challenging in a beautiful way.

Like the challenges of the steep mountains, the hurdles in my career have shaped me, adding strength and resilience to my character. And, like the Wao Akua, pursuing my passion for film has often led me to places that felt larger than life, into the realm of the extraordinary.

It has also served as a reminder of the importance of our heritage, for it provides spiritual sustenance and keeps us grounded.
